Denman is a small rural town and suburb in the Upper Hunter region of New South Wales, Australia (postcode 2328), located about 250 km north of Sydney and roughly 130 km northwest of Newcastle along the Golden Highway. It sits on the Hunter River near the Goulburn River, surrounded by gently rolling countryside that supports a mix of agricultural activities such as vineyards, horse studs, beef cattle and previously dairy farming, giving the area a strong rural character. 

The town has a close-knit community with heritage buildings, boutique shops, cafés, local produce markets and serves as a service centre for surrounding farms and properties. Denman’s history dates back to the 1820s when the first European settlement, originally called Merton, was established; the name changed to Denman in the 1850s in honour of Lord Denman, later Governor-General of Australia.
